The fall and rise of industry participation in fisheries science – a European story

چکیده
Abstract Based on the Buckland Professor lecture for 2021–2022, this story uses a hypothetical sketch of how relationship between fishing industry and scientists evolved over last century to provide starting point personal account changes in Science Industry Research Collaboration (SIRC). After period doldrums, SIRC is burgeoning debate practice. Focussing experiences European arena, looks at why gaining momentum, what needed make it useful meaningful those involved, reasons there hope that here stay.
